I’m looking forward to the upcoming release of the new X-Files movie on July 25th. Little information is available on the net regarding the plot but it does appear the movie will be in the form of a stand-alone supernatural story. I’m a long term fan of the tv series and first movie. Six years without a Mulder and Scully fix is way too long.

Currently the film is being referred to as “The X-Files Movie Untitled” or by it’s production name “Done One”. The series author, Chris Carter originally planned to begin production of this movie after the ninth season. Due to various delays in production, writing, negotiation etc it’s taken a bit longer but now the wait is finally over. Hopefully there will be more such movies to look forward to after this one.

Being a stand-alone story, audiences won’t need to be familiar with the mythology of the series. You can see more on the official movie site here. However, for a reminder of just some of the mystery and appeal of the original X-Files episodes, check the clip below.

What do you get when you put a bunch of Star Trek fans, actors and production staff together? This “fan-film” is a great example. It’s an unofficial (meaning non-Paramount) production produced by Star Trek enthusiasts as a tribute to Star trek and it’s 40 year history. The cast of “Star Trek: Of Gods and Men” includes a number of well known faces from the various Star Trek series as well as other fan productions, Tim Russ (who is also the director), Nichelle Nichols, Walter Koenig, Garret Wang, J G Hertzler, Chase Masterson, Ethan Phillips, Cirroc Lofton, James Cawley and a host of others.

This movie length production is being released in 3 parts, with parts 1 and 2 already available to watch online. Part 3 will be released soon. If you are a trek fan (or even if you’re not), visit the website to watch and/or to join in the fan forum to discuss this movie and anything else Trek related. You’ll find plenty more at Star Trek: Of Gods and Men

Don’t miss the blooper video available from the website front page, it’s good to see the lighter side and some of the fun the crew had together as well

Just to whet your appetite, the clip below is from the first 3 minutes, enjoy.
