Coping With The Effects Of Extreme Stress

without comments

The ability to cope with extreme stress effectively will depend on the persons access to positive resources, innate abilities and awareness. Along with their individual nature, each person has their own strengths and personal challenges. Two people experiencing the same situation can have totally different reactions. Each individual must be thought of as a unique situation because one approach to recovering and coping with stress might not work with everyone. It is helpful to know some of the general concerns, considerations and approaches that can be used.

Extreme stress can arise from many situations, it doesn’t just happen during catastrophic or acutely traumatic events.

Extreme stress for family members could be the result of a home environment that is highly stressful. Remembering that people always have a choice on their behavior is one way to help yourself if your parent is the cause of your stress. Using honest and open communication is one the positive approaches to handling this situation. You could try to sit down with your parents and let them know how their behavior makes you feel. If you felt comfortable doing so, you could even suggest some form of counseling.

What is known about extremely stressful events and the ability to cope with them will vary among people and the nature of the event. The time it takes for a reasonable recovery will depend on the kind of trauma as well as the nature of any kind of loss that might have happened. A person’s experience with enduring stress will also play an important role, here, as well. Learning to cope and recover should take less time for a person who has been in highly stressful situations before and was able to handle them well. Because of this, the person will already know ways to cope with the high or extreme stress.

One serious situation that will require professional intervention is the involvement of a child in an extreme stress or trauma incident. Obviously a child is not capable of understanding what is happening within, and there is only the manifestation of the symptoms. There are a variety of symptoms that a child might exhibit in this kind of situation, such as aggressiveness, extreme withdrawal or physical symptoms of stress reactions. The child may need their parents involvement in helping to overcome the stress, depending on the individual situation.

The ways in which to deal with extreme stress in children, teens and adults can be very different. Professional treatment may be the best route for any of the three categories and especially for young children. Additionally, adults and teens might need to seek ongoing support for some time depending on what kind of trauma they suffered. A personal support system made up of family and good friends can be extremely beneficial helping in recovery no matter what kind of case.

Lowering Cholesterol Naturally

without comments

Lowering bad cholesterol levels ought to be the main goal of many people, particularly those with unhealthy weight and coronary disease. There are a number of ways, utilizing medications, to lower bad cholesterol, however these prescriptions will have their own side-effects which could be problems in themselves. Alternatively, concerned people may discover how to lower cholesterol naturally, but this will require a great deal of discipline, conviction, commitment, and self control.

Learning how to reduce cholesterol naturally is straightforward. On the other hand, actually employing the methods will be more challenging. This happens because many of the actions required to effectively minimize cholesterol without the use of medicine will often lead consumers to change their habits, and many individuals are not comfortable moving away from their comfort zone.

Take, for instance, the first essential factor: going on a low cholesterol diet program. Most people appreciate flavorful foods, many of which happen to be, unfortunately, very high in bad cholesterol. Going on a reduced fat diet program may greatly reduce bad cholesterol levels, which will help lower the risk of coronary disease. However, because going on a low fat program will mean staying away from foods like beef, seafood, shell fish, fried chicken, rich desserts, and the like, not a lot of consumers will be happy about it. This is a very important component of bringing down cholesterol levels naturally, and must then be done.

Another is regular exercise. Just as before, many people will not be agreeable to the concept of physical exercise, particularly when it will require considerable time and effort. However, physical exercise dramatically helps boost the production of good cholesterol particles which can be responsible for carrying bad cholesterol particles into the liver in order to be processed. This is certainly yet another hurdle that people should overcome if they wish to reduce levels of cholesterol naturally.

Last but not least, smoking and heavy drinking must be eliminated. These addictions appear to be essential to many people, yet, they do nothing but negative things to the body. This is why they have to be eliminated.

These suggestions show that naturally reducing blood cholesterol levels is achievable, however great effort and self discipline need to be present to be able to achieve the desired results.

You can change your routine with different kinds of swimming so you avoid becoming bored and so you can adequately exercise all parts of your body. From time to time, try to swim as many lengths as you can in a set amount of time and some days try to alternate between fast swimming and short distance sprints. You can try a variety of strokes during your practices and, as you grow into a stronger swimmer, see if you can improve your techniques even further by making use of specific swimming aids.

If you are using swimming as part of a cross training fitness regime, you can structure some of the workouts that you do in the gym to benefit the way you swim. By concentrating on certain muscles and flexibility, this will help you the next time you take to the pool and as your stroke improves, your motivation to carry on will be greater. Wellness Coaching – Linking ADD/ADHD to Gluten and Sugar

without comments

The most common food sensitivity associated with ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder) and ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) is gluten. Some research has shown that up to 80 percent of all people with ADHD are gluten sensitive, with many of them having celiac disease.

Children — who are much more likely to get diagnosed with ADHD than adults — are consuming dangerously high levels of sugar and gluten in their diet. The sources of sugar may even be derived from “healthier” fruit juices, alcoholic beverages, and/or starchy carbohydrates.

Fruit juice is mostly sugar. Fructose has been shown by research to cause more havoc to the body’s leptin and insulin levels than sucrose. So, just because you’re drinking fruit juice, it doesn’t mean you’re being healthy. You’re still drinking a glass full of sugar — which the Artificial sweeteners have also been shown to cause hyperactivity and behavioral problems in children. Even if all of the above is avoided, if children consume a carbohydrate-dense, high-glycemic diet that contains foods such as pastries, pasta, bread, pizza, crackers, chips, and french fries, then their blood sugar levels will be rising and dropping dramatically as a result.

After blood sugar levels spike or dip, the body’s nervous system must shift into its sympathetic mode so that adrenalin can be released. In other words, it reverts back to its primitive fight-or-flight response. There’s nothing wrong with this if you need to protect yourself from an attacking saber-tooth tiger. However, if you’re sitting quietly in your classroom seat trying to pay attention to the teacher, it’s going to be very difficult to do when your body’s adrenaline levels are off the chart. The result: ADD, ADHD, cognitive disorders.

Instead of considering the obvious reasons for why the rates of ADD/ADHD have increased exponentially in recent years — such as a gluten- and sugar-rich diet, our disease-care system turns to Big Pharma to provide a remedy such as Ritalin, which like every other toxic drug, comes with a variety of side effects — some of which may be worse than the disease itself. Treatment is not the answer.

The only way to decrease our ADD/ADHD rates is with prevention, and to prevent these behavioral disorders from occurring in the first place, one must look to the diet. When you do, it becomes crystal clear that a low-carb, sugar-free, gluten-free, nutrient-dense diet is the only solution.

The Sweet Decay: Why You Should Avoid Sugary Sweets

without comments

When we were young, i was always told to clean our teeth afterward. Sometimes it already feels as though a chore, an occasion consuming routine, or even sometimes a task that people can skip as we’d like. Children have a tendency to do what you want because of the limited knowledge; they believe sometimes it puts them in peril. Sweets is the number 1 temptation for youngsters, and it is the main enemy of children’s oral health.

For every candy, chocolate, and all sorts of one other food stuffs that the child consumes, there’s always food debris that gets forgotten around the mouth, leaving it lodged between the teeth and settling on the top of enamel. Once it sticks to several parts of the mouth, it gives you enough nutrients for streptococcus bacteria to live on and causing these to multiply and plaque to build fast.

It’s not the sugar itself that creates this to take place, but due to other activities as well. Sugar in pre-packaged food and drinks comes with other ingredients composed of various substances that could be harmful to the tooth. This is how tooth decay begins so quickly. The bacteria eats the food debris and once they get full they excrete a certain acid that targets the enamel; About a minute your tooth is okay and the next thing you realize you’ve got a decay and you’re facing the situation of loose teeth.

Since now that we know the negative effects of sugary sweets to the teeth’s health, let’s try to learn how to curb sugar cravings or what alternative recommended food groups you can eat and finally fix loose teeth. A clear alternative would be the “No Sugar” snacks. If you’re a health buff, you may have many of these available but these snacks also can be found in supermarkets and food markets so you can look for them anytime you like. Another better option to busy consuming sugary sweet snacks is, well, eating fruits! Rather than reaching out for a bar of candy, a pack of chocolates or a bag of chips, obtain a healthier alternative that is as sweet while craving for.

Fruits make the perfect alternative than candies for something sweet to appease your tongue. Keep a regular of fresh fruits inside your fridge like watermelons, pears and grapes. Apples are incredibly filling and will not pack a fat punch over a calorie-loaded chocolate and nut bar. You can even go for sweet strawberries if they’re in season. Strawberries are one of the top fruits you need to be gobbling anyway, because of its rich vitamin and mineral content.
